The Head and the Torso

Once upon a time there was a Head in a town. The Head was impressive. She had sharp eyes that could see far and long. She had sharp ears that could perceive the faintest of the sound. She had a powerful brain that could fast and sparkling mind that could create the most brilliant of thoughts. She had a tongue that could speak effectively.

However, She had no body. If She spoke no sound came at all. If She wanted to run She had no legs at all. If She wanted to give She had no hands at all. When She spoke the eyes did not say anything at all. The Head did not want to be a butt of jokes and hence decided hide herself from rest of the world. She asked some sympathesizers to hide her in an enclosure. She lived with a disappointment and but also with a hope. She did not know who would help her and where the help will come from. But She never lost hope. She waited forever.

Far far away in the woods, at the same time, there was a Torso. He had an enchanting pair of arms and a long and strong pair of legs. He had a Heart as well. But He had a curse to be invisible. He could run like a cheetah and lift a boulder, but this meant nothing to the people. No emotion flew into its Heart. Nobody developed any friendship with the Torso. He could do the most fantastic of the acrobatics but nobody could experience it. Instead people only thought there was a ghost when He moved fast as they perceived the sound without any actor. The Torso was frustrated. He had made umpteen attempts to attract attention but all efforts were futile.

A great sage of discourse one day came to the town passing through the woods. The sage had perceived the Torso although he could not see it. He kept wondering how to release the Torso from the clutches of its curse but soon forgot the matter. He was delivering discourses to the people. People across the town came to his discourses. The Head was tempted to go for his discourse. But she did not want to be made fun of. Who would anyway take her to the discourse? Thankfully, the sage himself began another discourse close to a place where the Head was hiding.

The sage began his discourse. The Head listened. Slowly, she got mesmerized. Her eyes began to sparkle. Her hope began to grow further. She grew courage enough to make herself visible. She strongly felt that this was the day she was waiting for all along. She slowly started to move drawn by a heavenly power.

Far away in the woods, the Torso felt a strong drawing force. He began to walk and slowly started to run. He no more felt frustrated. He forgot that people felt scared when he ran. After hours of running he stopped. He was now at the place where the sage was giving a discourse right in front of everybody and the Head herself.

The Sage continued his discourse. The Head and the Torso now felt their time had come for the release of the curse. The Sage slowly came down. He caressed the Head and the Torso. He began to chant heavenly verses and placed the Head on the Torso. It was a miracle. The Head could now speak and everybody heard. The Torso was now visible to everybody. The emotions flew into the Heart. The Head could now do everything that she thought. When the Head wanted to give away, the hands were they do it for her immediately. When the Torso wanted to run, the Head allowed it to run and gave it its name. All could now see how enchanting the Torso was and how brilliant the Head was.

They began to call it HeadTorse, slowly it became Hentorse and then Hentense and eventually Sentence. The Sentence then began to teach how to speak, write and listen correctly and well to all the children thereafter.
